Yasutomo - Mineral Paper Pads
Sketch with saturated color on tear-proof, waterproof stone paper
Calcium carbonate forms the foundation of this unusual paper, 80% mineral content bonded with minimal HDPE creates a surface that behaves nothing like wood pulp. Water won't make it buckle or disintegrate; the sheet maintains its structure even when completely soaked, making it remarkably forgiving for wet media experiments. Ink and paint sit on the surface rather than sinking in, producing saturated colors and crisp edges without bleed-through.
The vellum finish provides enough tooth for dry media while the 150gsm weight handles aggressive wet techniques. Tear resistance means you can work and rework areas without the paper failing under stress, corrections, layering, and mixed media approaches all become more feasible. This environmental alternative to wood-based paper performs particularly well with markers, watercolor, and ink, though results with inkjet printing vary by printer model.
Yasutomo's mineral paper offers acid-free longevity in bright white, giving you a stable surface that responds differently than cellulose-based papers. Artists working with techniques that typically destroy conventional paper, heavy washes, alcohol markers, repeated glazing, find this material opens possibilities that traditional substrates simply can't handle.
