Van Aken - KATO Basic Conditioning Bar

KATO Basic Conditioning Bar

Restore rock-hard polymer clay to workable condition in minutes

Crumbly polymer clay doesn't have to end up in the trash. This conditioning bar restores workability to aged, stiff clay that's lost its flexibility over time. Knead small amounts of the colorless conditioner into firm clay until the mixture becomes pliable again, the neutral formula won't alter your original colors or introduce unwanted tints into custom blends you've carefully mixed.

The bar format gives you precise control over how much conditioner you add, preventing the over-softening that liquid conditioners sometimes cause. Start with small amounts and work gradually; you can always add more but can't remove excess once incorporated. This measured approach helps you achieve the exact consistency your technique requires, whether that's firm enough for detailed caning or softer for sheet work.

Once conditioned and cured, your restored clay maintains the same strength as fresh polymer clay. The formula integrates completely during baking, creating uniform structure throughout your work. Keep a bar on hand specifically for rescuing older clay stashes rather than discarding materials that simply need proper conditioning to perform like new again.
