Tommy Art - Transfer Gel

Transfer Gel

Transform laser prints into permanent images on wood, fabric, and more

Tommy Art Transfer Gel serves three distinct functions in a single medium. Its primary use transfers laser-printed and photocopied images onto surfaces where traditional decoupage methods fail, wood, canvas, metal, glass, even fabric. The gel bonds with toner particles, lifting them cleanly from paper while maintaining crisp detail and color saturation. Apply gel to your printed image, position it face-down on your surface, and let it cure completely. Once dry, dampen the paper backing and rub it away with your fingers, leaving only the transferred image embedded in a thin, transparent layer.

Beyond image transfer, this gel functions as reliable adhesive for paper and cardboard assemblage work, creating strong bonds without warping lightweight materials. Mix it with dry pigments to create custom colored glazes, the matte, transparent base accepts powders readily while maintaining a smooth, workable consistency. This versatility matters when you're building layered mixed media pieces that require multiple techniques. Keep the gel handy for furniture restoration, altered books, collage work, or any project where you need photographic imagery integrated seamlessly into painted or dimensional surfaces.
