Taskboard - Project Board
Form sculptural models that dry rigid without warping or splitting
Low-density wood sheets cut cleanly with scissors yet form into rigid three-dimensional shapes when dampened, unusual versatility for architectural models, sculptural prototypes, and dimensional design work. Unlike basswood or illustration board, Taskboard combines the workability of cardstock with the structural integrity of thin plywood once dry. Light misting on both surfaces makes the material pliable enough to wrap around cylinders or coax into organic curves, then returns to flat stability as moisture evaporates.
The sustainable forestry material responds well to hand tools and laser cutters, producing minimal scorching that won't overwhelm delicate cuts or surface etching. White finish provides smooth surfaces ideal for forming compound curves; basswood-tone offers wood-grain texture that enhances laser-etched details. Work with the grain direction for tighter curves, using cylindrical forms as guides when shaping complex geometries. Hot glue secures damp pieces during forming; white glue or Sobo bonds dry assemblies permanently.
Available in 1/32", 1/16", and 1/8" thicknesses, formable except for the heaviest gauge. Sand edges smooth or leave them crisp depending on your aesthetic. Accelerate drying with a hair dryer or fan when working against deadlines. Architecture students and product designers rely on this material for rapid prototyping that bridges sketch models and finished presentations.
