Staedtler - Mars Lumograph Aquarell

Mars Lumograph Aquarell

Sketch with graphite, then activate with water for soft watercolor washes

Graphite that dissolves with water opens up techniques between drawing and painting. These watercolour graphite pencils sketch like traditional Mars Lumographs, smooth, predictable laydown with excellent control, then transform when you introduce a wet brush. Dry lines stay crisp for structure and detail; add water and they bloom into soft washes and atmospheric effects. The included round brush handles both activation and blending.

Three degrees (4B, 6B, 8B) provide tonal range from subtle mid-grays to deep darks. Work them dry for preliminary sketches beneath watercolor, or exploit their water-soluble properties for moody landscapes and expressive portraits where you want graphite's unique character rather than paint. Special lead formulation resists breaking during aggressive sketching or when building heavy layers for rich washes. Super-bonded construction keeps the 3.6mm core intact through sharpening and use.

Staedtler sources wood from PEFC-certified sustainable forests and manufactures these pencils to the same exacting standards as their professional graphite line. Lines reproduce cleanly for artists who scan or photograph their work. For best results, use their tub sharpener (511 001) or metal sharpener (510 10) to maintain clean points without waste.
