Speedball - Fabric & Paper Block Printing Ink Kit

Fabric & Paper Block Printing Ink Kit

Print bold, permanent designs that clean up with soap and water

Six permanent colors work across paper and fabric without demanding special cleanup solvents, Speedball formulates these oil-based inks to release with ordinary soap and water. This crossover capability matters when you're printing editions that might live as wall art or wearable pieces, maintaining consistent color and opacity whether you're stamping cotton tote bags or fine printmaking paper.

The ink stays workable while you're printing but commits to permanence once applied. Overnight drying means you can stack prints the next day; fabric pieces need a week's cure at room temperature before laundering. That curing window allows chemical bonding with textile fibers rather than just surface adhesion. Apply blocks stamp-style with firm, even pressure, the ink's viscosity transfers cleanly under direct compression without requiring traditional press equipment.

Hard rubber brayers distribute the ink properly; natural rubber brayers absorb the oil components and compromise transfer quality. Red, blue, green, yellow, black, and white provide primary mixing potential plus ready-to-use neutrals. Block printers working between studio practice and functional textile design get permanent results without maintaining separate ink inventories or cleanup systems for different substrates.
