Smooth-On - Bronze Powder

Bronze Powder

Mix into resin to create authentic bronze weight and luster

Metal particles settle against the mold surface during the first coat, creating a continuous bronze shell that becomes the visible exterior of your finished piece.

Mix the powder into Colormatch or similar casting resins until you achieve a thick, creamy consistency, dense enough that the bronze particles stay suspended rather than settling immediately. Brush this enriched mixture onto your mold surface in a deliberate first coat, ensuring complete coverage of all details. Once this metal-rich layer sets, back-fill with standard resin to complete the casting. The result reads as solid bronze to the eye and hand, with surface weight and luster that distinguish cast pieces from hollow reproductions.

After demolding, surface finishing reveals the bronze beneath: light sanding exposes bright metal highlights, while patina solutions create authentic aged effects. Sculptors working in limited editions appreciate how cold-casting delivers metal presence without foundry equipment or molten metal handling. The powder works equally well for jewelry components, architectural details, or decorative objects where bronze appearance matters but solid metal casting proves impractical.
