Kuretake - Fluid Graphite

Fluid Graphite

Create dimensional metallic effects by mixing this thick graphite medium

Kuretake transforms powdered graphite into a thick, brushable medium that captures graphite's distinctive character, simultaneously metallic and matte, without the dust. This waterbased formulation maintains high viscosity for deliberate, textured application rather than flowing like ink. The concentrated pigment load delivers authentic graphite appearance with the control and permanence of paint.

Mix Fluid Graphite with gels, pastes, or other acrylics to adjust consistency while preserving that characteristic graphite sheen. Apply it straight from the bottle for dimensional marks that catch light like silverpoint, or thin it progressively with water to achieve graduated tonal washes. The medium dries permanent and waterproof, allowing overpainting and layering without disturbing previous applications. Unlike pencil or stick graphite, this liquid form eliminates smudging concerns while enabling techniques impossible with traditional graphite: pour it, drip it, stencil through it, or build heavy impasto textures.

The 2.11 oz. bottle provides substantial volume for experimental mixed media work, monochromatic studies, or adding graphite's unique optical quality to collage and assemblage. Brushes clean easily with soap and water during application.
