Draw crisp lines that stay permanent through washes and decades
Traditional India ink clogs technical pens and spreads across fibers, ruining crisp linework. Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay formulation eliminates both problems. The highly-pigmented ink flows smoothly through pens, brushes, and airbrushes without blocking fine tips, while maintaining sharp edges on paper without feathering into surrounding fibers. Once dry, lines become genuinely permanent, waterproof and lightfast enough for archival work that won't fade or lift when you layer subsequent media over top.
All colors except black and white offer transparent coverage ideal for layered washes and glazing techniques. Black and white provide strong opacity for solid coverage and highlights. The formula adheres reliably to surfaces beyond paper, wood, plastic, vinyl, and board, making it practical for mixed media assemblage and experimental substrates. Dilute with water for graduated washes or use full-strength for maximum intensity.
Each 1-ounce glass bottle includes an integrated dropper-stopper that controls flow precisely, whether you're loading a technical pen reservoir or mixing custom dilutions for background washes. The acid-free, non-toxic formulation meets AP approval standards for studio safety.
