Amaco formulates this self-hardening clay specifically for permanent sculptural work rather than temporary studies. Dried pieces maintain their form indefinitely, though they remain porous until sealed. Apply acrylic paints, stains, or sealers once fully cured to protect surfaces and add color. For waterproof finishes, coat thoroughly with appropriate sealers, essential for pieces that might encounter moisture. The gray color provides a neutral base that accepts surface treatments readily.
Sculptors working without kiln access use Marblex for everything from architectural models to finished artwork. Air-dry time varies with thickness; plan several days for solid forms, less for hollow construction. Never attempt to fire this clay, it's engineered for ambient curing, not kiln temperatures.
