Water-based formulation eliminates the harsh solvents that make traditional screen printing inks difficult to work with in home studios. Speedball Fabric Screen Printing Ink prints cleanly through mesh, maintains opacity across multiple fabric types, and cleans up with plain water during your work session, then becomes genuinely wash-fast once heat-set properly. This dual nature makes it forgiving during printing while delivering durability that survives repeated laundering.
The ink works across cotton, polyester blends, linen, rayon, and most synthetic fibers, though you'll need different ink for nylon. Opacity holds up on both light and dark fabrics, while the formulation's viscosity suits both screen printing and direct brush application for hand-painted textile work. Mix with Speedball Transparent Base to create translucent layers or add Retarder Base when you need extended working time in warmer conditions.
Heat-setting requires attention but uses standard household equipment: iron on medium-high with a protective cloth for three to five minutes per side once the ink dries.
