Urea extends dye reaction time by pulling moisture from the air and holding it against the fiber. The extra moisture keeps dye molecules active longer, allowing deeper penetration and more complete bonding with cellulose fibers.

Add urea to sodium alginate print paste for consistent results across detailed screens or block prints. Mix it directly into liquid dye for painting applications where you need control over working time. The hygroscopic properties prevent premature drying on fabric surface, eliminating the patchy, incomplete strike-through that happens when dye dries before it can fully react. Dissolve thoroughly in lukewarm water before adding to dye or thickener.
