Yupo's non-absorbent surface keeps pigments suspended on top rather than soaking in, enabling techniques impossible on standard watercolor paper. Colors stay intensely vibrant since nothing gets absorbed into fibers. Pigments remain workable longer, allowing you to lift, blend, and manipulate washes well after initial application.
The smooth, waterproof surface encourages experimental approaches: alcohol effects, salt textures, and fluid manipulation produce unpredictable, organic patterns. Mistakes lift cleanly with a damp cloth or sponge, even after drying.
