Coat your surface with dye, position your design (created on the included film or found objects for photograms), expose to sun, rinse. Done.
This starter kit includes three 2-ounce dye bottles in orange, violet, and blue that mix for expanded color range, plus SolarFast Wash to remove unexposed dye cleanly. Three sheets of translucent film accept drawings from the included marker or printed designs from your inkjet. Results vary by substrate: fabric prints remain completely soft with no stiffness or raised surface, while paper yields zero relief and captures fine detail with remarkable precision. Both cure permanently, washable and lightfast once processed.
The kit supplies essentials for immediate experimentation: sponges for dye application, T-pins to secure film, gloves, backing board, and cotton test fabric. You provide your own fabric or paper for final prints. A sheet of clear glass (not included) helps press film flat against the printing surface for maximum sharpness during exposure. Suitable for ages eight and up, though the technique rewards artistic exploration at any level.
