Jacquard - deColourant

deColourant

Erase dye from fabric with heat-activated paste for precise color removal

Brush the paste onto your fabric, apply heat with a steam iron, and rinse out the discharged areas. The paste removes fiber reactive dyes, direct dyes, and acid dyes from natural and synthetic fabrics, creating white or lighter areas that reveal the base fabric color.

This controlled discharge method opens up creative possibilities beyond basic bleach techniques. Layer stencils for crisp geometric patterns, paint freehand designs, or create gradients by varying paste thickness and heat application. The paste consistency allows precise placement, edges stay sharp, details remain clean, and you control exactly where color disappears. Once discharged areas are rinsed and dried, you can overdye them with new colors or leave them light for contrast.

deColourant works particularly well on cotton, rayon, and linen that have been dyed with fiber reactive dyes. Results vary depending on original dye type and fabric, but the paste format gives you far more control than liquid bleach while remaining gentle enough for repeated use on the same piece. Surface designers and fabric artists use this paste to build complex layered patterns that would be impossible with dye alone.
