Rhodia PAScribe Calligraphy Pad Description

Calligraphy on white paper limits your ink choices to dark colors. PAScribe reverses that constraint with smooth black or grey sheets designed specifically for metallic and light-colored inks that would disappear on traditional surfaces. Paul Antonio, whose calligraphic work spans commercial projects and fine art, collaborated with Rhodia to develop paper that handles the unique demands of reversed contrast work, where luminous inks need maximum visibility against dark grounds.

The 120gsm stock provides exceptionally smooth writing on both sides, crucial when light inks can catch on any surface irregularity. Lined layout maintains consistent baseline alignment for formal scripts without visible guidelines competing with metallic strokes. Sixty sheets give you substantial practice space for developing technique with gold, silver, and pale inks that transform against these dark surfaces. Staplebound format keeps pages secure while allowing easy removal of finished work.

A4+ dimensions (8.25" × 11.75") provide generous space for exploring decorative capitals and extended flourishes. Whether practicing Copperplate with metallic gold or developing contemporary calligraphic compositions with white gouache, PAScribe creates the high-contrast foundation that makes light inks perform as they should.
