Jacquard Piñata Alcohol Inks Description

Alcohol inks move fast across nonporous surfaces, creating effects impossible with water-based media. Piñata inks deliver intense, transparent color that spreads and blends on glass, metal, plastic, and synthetic papers with unpredictable beauty, that marble-like flow happens because alcohol evaporates quickly while pigments settle into organic patterns. Artist Susan Pickering Rothamel developed these acid-free colorants specifically for surfaces that reject conventional paints, from Yupo paper to aluminum to vinyl.

The transparent saturation means you can layer colors without muddying, building depth through successive applications or letting underlayers show through. Half-ounce squeeze bottles give you control over application, drop ink directly onto surfaces for bold pools of color, or dispense onto felt applicators for more controlled marks. Indelible once dry, these inks resist water and handling, making them practical for everything from leather stamping to resin inclusions to airbrushing custom finishes.

Mix colors directly or blend with Claro Extender to slow drying time and create softer gradients. Clean tools with Color Clean Up Solution between colors. The fast-drying nature that creates those distinctive effects also means working quickly and embracing spontaneity rather than tight control.
