Golden Heavy Body Acrylics Description

Golden formulates each Heavy Body color around the pigment itself rather than forcing every tube toward uniform consistency. High-loading pigments like cadmiums dry matte and opaque; reactive pigments that resist concentration dry glossy and transparent. This pigment-first approach means you're working with pure color characteristics, no fillers diluting intensity, no matting agents flattening surface quality, no extenders compromising permanency.

The thick, buttery consistency holds brushstrokes and palette knife marks without leveling. Paint straight from the tube for impasto work, or thin with medium for glazing and washes. The 100% acrylic emulsion dries flexible enough to withstand canvas movement and temperature shifts while resisting water, chemicals, and UV degradation. That milky wet appearance clears completely as it dries, revealing full pigment saturation.

Surface-dry happens quickly, paint over layers within minutes. Complete curing takes longer, but you can keep building without waiting. Chemically pure cadmiums marked (CP) deliver the most concentrated versions of those legendary pigments. Golden's range spans traditional earth tones through modern quinacridones and phthalos, each chosen for maximum permanency within its chemical class. You get archival color with the working properties that made acrylics essential studio tools.
