Global Art Teardrop Shape Painting Knives Description
Lifting paint cleanly, creating organic textures, and working in tight spaces where rectangular blades feel clumsy. Global Art crafts these knives from flexible Italian spring steel that responds to pressure without losing its temper, allowing controlled manipulation of thick paint without the blade warping over time. Natural oil-finished wood handles provide secure grip during extended painting sessions, while brass ferrules ensure the blade stays firmly seated through aggressive application and scraping techniques.
Eight sizes address different scales of work. Numbers 18 and 19 measure 7/8 inch at the teardrop base, ideal for building up impasto or blending mid-sized areas. Numbers 20 and 21 taper to 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch respectively, handling details and edges where larger knives would obliterate surrounding work. Numbers 22 and 23 at 5/8 inch and 3/4 inch bridge detail and coverage. Numbers 24 and 25, both 1 1/8 inch, move paint quickly across larger passages while maintaining the teardrop's characteristic maneuverability.
The pointed tip reaches into corners and creates fine linear marks, while the curved edges produce natural, flowing strokes that avoid the mechanical quality rectangular blades sometimes impose. Spring steel flexibility lets you vary pressure for different effects: light touch for delicate scumbling, firm pressure for decisive texture.
