General's - Willow Charcoal Sticks
Willow Charcoal Sticks
Sketch freely with soft willow charcoal that erases cleanly every time
Natural willow charcoal crumbles and smudges exactly as traditional drawing demands. General's processes actual willow branches into pure carbon without fillers or binders, producing sticks that layer smoothly and lift cleanly with kneaded erasers or chamois cloth. This responsiveness makes willow charcoal ideal for gesture drawings where you're constantly adjusting proportions, or atmospheric studies where you're building subtle gradations through repeated applications and removals.
Four size options address different drawing approaches: thin sticks for precise contours and detail work, medium widths for general sketching, thick sticks for bold massing and tonal coverage. Each size maintains that characteristic soft, powdery quality that blends effortlessly with fingertips or tortillons while erasing back to white paper when needed.
Available individually by size for artists who know their preferred working scale, or in assorted sets that let you shift between linear precision and broad gestural marks within a single drawing session. The tube packaging protects these delicate sticks during transport, essential since willow charcoal breaks easily under pressure, though that very fragility contributes to its fluid, forgiving drawing quality.
