Two coats deliver full coverage and proper stiffness. Acrylic gesso typically requires four applications to achieve comparable opacity and surface preparation; Gamblin Ground reaches that point in half the layers, saving time during surface preparation. The result sits between acrylic's flexibility and traditional oil primer's rigidity, stiff enough to resist excessive fabric movement, flexible enough to roll or transport without cracking.
