Gamblin Gesso Blade Description
Spreading gesso with brushes leaves ridges; rollers waste product in their nap. This flexible blade solves both problems. Gamblin designed this tool specifically for priming, with a tapered edge that applies ground or gesso in smooth, even coats from edge to edge without the texture marks brushes leave behind. The blade flexes to follow panel surfaces while maintaining enough rigidity to spread thick materials efficiently.
That flexibility matters during cleanup too. The blade releases dried gesso easily, just flex it and dried material pops off. For wet cleanup, Gamsol handles oil-based grounds while soap and water work for acrylics and PVA. Unlike brushes that trap product in their bristles or rollers that absorb it, this blade uses only what actually reaches your surface.
Made from 100% recycled material, the tool handles both thick and thin mediums without breaking down. Small blade (4" × 2.75") suits panels and studies; large (5" × 3") covers stretched canvas efficiently. Beyond priming, painters use these blades for scraping palettes, spreading texture paste, and applying thick paint layers. One blade, multiple uses, minimal waste.
