Double-primed oval canvas ready for oils or acrylics
Oval formats change compositional dynamics, subjects naturally center, backgrounds curve, edges soften. This Fredrix canvas arrives stretched and double-primed, ready for oil or acrylic work without additional preparation. Medium-texture cotton duck provides reliable tooth for paint adhesion while the acrylic titanium primer creates a bright, stable foundation that won't yellow or deteriorate over time.
The half-inch depth suits traditional framing or direct display for smaller works. Canvas wraps smoothly around particle board frames with glued edges rather than staples, eliminating metal interference if you paint around the sides. Double priming ensures consistent absorbency across the surface, so your first layers behave predictably whether you're working alla prima or building up glazes.
Acid-free construction protects against long-term degradation. The oval format works particularly well for portraits, floral studies, and decorative pieces where the shape reinforces the subject matter. You get a prepared surface that handles direct painting techniques and repeated corrections without the prep work of stretching your own canvas.
