Practice watercolor, acrylic, and sketching on one versatile student pad
Heavyweight sizing transforms student-grade paper into something genuinely capable. Canson XL Mix Media sheets handle watercolor washes without buckling, support acrylic layering without fiber breakdown, and provide enough tooth for charcoal and pastel work, all in a pad that costs less than buying separate papers for each medium. That 98 lb weight isn't just marketing speak; it's substantial enough for techniques that would destroy thinner sheets.
Sixty micro-perforated sheets mean you can work through ideas and experiments without rationing paper. Remove finished pieces cleanly from the wirebound pad, or leave them attached while working wet to prevent cockling. The heavy sizing controls water absorption, giving you time to manipulate washes and blend colors rather than fighting instant soaking. Art professors helped develop these specifications, so you get performance characteristics that matter for actual coursework and skill development, not arbitrary features that look good in catalogs. Whether you're exploring different media to find your preferred approach or need one pad that handles whatever your assignments demand, this combination of quantity, quality, and price makes sense.
