Yasutomo - Japanese Porcelain Mixing Palettes
Mix colors with confidence on traditional Japanese porcelain palettes
Porcelain's smooth, non-porous surface releases dried paint with a quick soak, eliminating the stubborn residue that builds up on plastic palettes over time. These Japanese mixing dishes maintain their pristine white finish through countless painting sessions, giving you accurate color assessment without the visual interference of stained wells. The heavyweight construction stays put during vigorous mixing and won't tip when you load your brush from the edge.
Choose between two practical configurations. The 9-section tray (5⅝" diameter × ½" deep) provides shallow wells ideal for watercolor and ink, with enough compartments to lay out a working palette without constant refilling. The 7-section dish (5" diameter × ⅝" deep) offers deeper wells that hold more paint for gouache or fluid acrylics. Both feature a central mixing area surrounded by individual wells, keeping colors organized and accessible.
The glazed surface works across watercolor, gouache, acrylics, and inks, any water-based medium cleans up with soap and water, while dried paint lifts cleanly after brief soaking. Porcelain won't absorb pigments or warp from moisture, maintaining consistent performance whether you're mixing delicate washes or saturated color.
