Speedball - Screen Printing Wood Frames
Professional-grade frames with tension-adjustable mesh for crisp prints
Cord-locked monofilament fabric sits in routed grooves, ready to tighten when tension loosens during use. This simple mechanical system eliminates the need for staple guns or adhesives, just pull the mesh taut and lock it back into place. Speedball constructs these frames from smooth wooden balusters, mitered at corners and fastened securely to handle the constant tension screen printing demands.
The 4712, 4714, and 4729 frames come with 110-mesh monofilament polyester already installed, fine enough for detailed work while maintaining good ink flow. The 4505 and 4723 complete units include everything needed to start printing: frame with 12XX fabric, hinged base for registration, and kick leg for easy screen lifting between pulls. Wood construction provides enough rigidity for consistent off-contact distance while remaining light enough for comfortable handling during production runs.
Re-tensioning takes minutes rather than requiring frame restretch or replacement. Remove the cord, pull the fabric taut, and lock it back down. This extends screen life significantly and maintains print quality as mesh naturally loosens over time. Whether you're printing posters or building a small-edition workflow, these frames balance functionality with straightforward maintenance that keeps you printing rather than rebuilding screens.
