Akua - Wiping Fabric

Wiping Fabric

Wipe intaglio plates clean without streaks or lint transfer

Polyester construction eliminates the lint problems that plague traditional tarlatan while maintaining the surface smoothness intaglio printing demands. Akua Wiping Fabric pulls ink cleanly from plate surfaces without leaving fibers behind or creating unwanted texture in your prints. The material stays supple even after repeated use with Akua inks, which never harden into the weave the way conventional inks do on cotton alternatives.

Solid color areas emerge without streaking when you wipe with consistent pressure and circular motions. The fabric's durability means you can work through multiple plates in a session without the material breaking down or losing effectiveness. Between printing sessions, simply store the fabric as-is; Akua's extended open time keeps the absorbed ink workable indefinitely. When the fabric becomes saturated, hand wash it and return to work.

This reusable approach transforms wiping fabric from a consumable supply into a long-term studio tool. Printmakers working with Akua inks find this fabric handles both broad tonal areas and fine detail work, adapting to aggressive wiping for dramatic contrast or gentle passes for subtle tones.
